Troop 799 is a boy-run troop.  We go camping, a minimum, once a month and attend summer camp, and undertake a range of service activities in the community.  Our activities range from hiking, backpacking, horse riding, white water rafting, canoeing and all in between. In the past we have undertaken 100 miler at the Philmont Scout Ranch, 50 miler’s in the Wallowa’s, Olympic Peninsula, Montana and 50 miler canoe trip in Canada.  We have toured the United Kingdom and camped in Scotland with English scouts.  Not to mentioned having climbed Mt. Rainer, Mt Hood, Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens.

The troop is dedicated to instilling scout values, building character and self confidence, citizenship and strong leadership skills. Scouts learn the essential skills through the advancement program, outdoor activities and study diverse fields through the merit badge program.

Whenever possible troop 799 follows the scouting tradition, of having the older Scouts of the troop educate the younger scouts. This enables leadership skills of the older scouts to flourish and promotes a beneficial relationship amongst the entire troop. It also enables the scouts to test out their ideas in a safe environment. Troop 799 developed and maintains this website to:

ü     Keep our Scouts and Scouting families informed. The Internet provides the fastest way to communicate schedule changes, and late breaking news.

ü   Share our adventures with family, friends and the Scouting community.

ü Letting our community and the world know about our Troop, its activities and objectives.

ü     Aid in recruitment.

Scouting offers something for our community's youth and gives back to the community through service projects.

It also helps the scout to develop highly valued lifelong skills and values, relating to citizenship, the community and leadership, and an awareness of their surroundings. It shows them that you can set high goals and achieve them, both as an individual and as a team member.
