Here is a list of items your new scout will need:

The Troop will provide:

  • The latest Boy Scout Handbook
  • Troop 799 Number Patch
  • Green Shoulder Loops
  • Patrol Emblem Patch (Phoenix)
  • Neckerchief
  • Leather Slide
  • Class B T799 red dri-fit T-Shirt
  • Red T799 hats can be purchased for $10, but are not required

Uniform - you will need to purchase these items at the Scout Shop in Portland:

  • World Crest Patch (purple)
  • Skyloo District Patch
  • CPC Council Shoulder Patch
  • Pants
  • Shirt - Class A (Tan)
  • Belt (if it doesn't come with the pants)
  • Socks (optional)

Items you may need for an outing are:

  • Mess Kit - Cup, Plate, Bowl, Silverware or Spork (Note:  Lexan or heavy plastic works better than metal)
  • Waterproof Hiking Boots (We may have some used ones in the Troop Shed)
  • Rain Coat
  • Rain Pants
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Sleeping Pad
  • Thermal tarp to use inside tent under sleeping pad (Recommended:  Space All-Weather Blanket available at REI for $16.95)
  • 10 Essentials - pocket knife, 50’ nylon rope, compass, first aid kit, flashlight, water bottle, waterproof matches & fire starter, trail food, rain gear, sunscreen
  • Backpacking pack (We may have some used ones in the Troop Shed.  Watch for sales at Big 5, REI, etc.)
